As a former high-flyer on The Voice, Beth McCarthy knows a thing or two about performing for the cameras.
But now the York singer-songwriter has swapped the small screen for the cinema after her track was picked to be the official song in a major movie.
Beth’s version of the Ralph McTell classing Streets Of London is to play a key role in 100 Streets.
Starring Idris Elba, best known for his leading roles in TV smashes The Wire and Luther, the movie is set in modern London.
Described as “a layered and gripping drama, which takes a fresh look at the vibrant and compelling life of residents in contemporary London”, Elba plays a famous retired rugby player who gets involved in drugs.
It also stars Quantum Of Solace and Clash Of The Titans star Gemma Arterton, and is released on Friday (November 11).
