It’s fun for all the family this spring as the National Centre For Early Music stages shows to delight all ages.

Starting on Mother’s Day with The Chimpanzees of Happy Town (Sun March 26, 11.30am & 1.30pm), Ensemble 360 make a welcomed return, this time to tell the story of the much-loved Chutney the Chimp.
Narrated by the wonderful Polly Ives, this concert is brought to life with brilliant live music and colourful projected illustrations.
There’s even the chance to practice the songs in advance with free videos and downloads at on the website. Suitable for ages 3-7 years.
Disney updated
There will be a screening of Fantasia 2000 (Sun April 30, 11.30am).
This is updated the Disney classic with stunning animation set against great music including Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Carnival of the Animals and the original Sorcerer’s Apprentice featuring Mickey Mouse. Suitable for 7-11 years.
Zapp and boing
The NCEM also welcomes back the extraordinarily talented percussionist Gary Hammond, who still records with the Beautiful South.
Bim, Bang, Boing! (Sun June 4, 11.30am) is Gary’s musical adventure and he will entertain with a huge variety of unusual percussion instruments, including waterphone, vibratone, buzz bow, airpipes and bird whistles from all corners of the world! Suitable for 3-7 years.
Last, but not least, hot from the London Jazz Festival, Dave Kane bassist and Oliver Dover saxophone play Dr Zapp and Dr Zamm, magical musical scientists from the future who will entertain with their Jazz for Toddlers (Sun 25 June, 11.30am) concert.
Expect a playful and friendly atmosphere proving you are never too young to love jazz. Suitable for 2-5 years old.
