Love wine, books or a bargain? Beningbrough Hall might be the place for you this weekend.
Like many other venues, the Georgian house and garden is welcoming YorkCard holders for free this weekend (January 25 and 26) for the York Residents’ Festival.
And it is staging various extras to tempt folk out of the city and up the A19.
This weekend the hall is holding a book sale, coinciding with the relocation of the reading room from the stable block into the former library of the main house.
A range of fiction and non-fiction titles will be on sale from £1 each, and all income generated from the second hand book shop will go towards helping conservation projects.
If all that browsing makes you peckish, the Walled Garden Restaurant at the hall has a special offer for families: a free children’s meal when you buy a hot adult main meal.
And there will be an opportunity to meet one of Beningbrough’s local suppliers. Sarah Ironside will be visiting from York-based Yorkshire Country Wines to talk to visitors about her work and best of all share samples of her wines, all of which are produced from locally grown fruit.
