If Tomasz Schafernaker has it right, this weekend’s going to be a right old scorcher.

Fortunately there’s lots of outdoor fun to be had, from the races to a river regatta, picnics and a busking jamboree.

As always, York’s comprehensive guide to things do to in York is here.

York Summer Regatta

Choice

We’d call this messing about in boats, but it’s much more competitive than that. Hosted by York City Rowing Club there’ll be serious sport on the water, as rowers from as far afield as Cambridge and Durham go oar-to-oar along the Ouse between Clifton Bridge and Lendal Bridge. Great to watch in the Sunday sunshine, plus there’s a bar and refreshments at the club – more here.
