Acomb Christmas Festival

After a successful crowd-funding campaign in 2016, the festive lights are set to dazzle Acomb for the second Christmas running. Ricky Norwood of Eastenders fame, and one of the stars of York Barbican’s Robin Hood and the Babes In the Wood, will be switching on the lights on Saturday at 4pm on Front Street. There’s entertainment from 2pm, Santa’s Grotto, an indoor market and more. More here

Featuring more than 25 events hosted by leading historians and authors, the BBC History Weekend returns to York. There are talks from Hannah Grieg, historical consultant on the BBC drama Poldark, former politician Roy Hattersley and broadcaster Michael Wood among many others.
