Issued by City of York Council
City of York Council’s leisure centre Energise has been confirmed as one of five national ‘best performers’ award at the National Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) 2012 Performance Network Awards last night (6 December 2012).
The annual ceremony celebrates work being carried out in Sports and Leisure Facility Management and this is the second year running that Energise has been placed in the national top five.
Councillor Sonja Crisp, City of York Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism said: “The award recognises high standards in a number of different criteria including quality of facilities, staff and efficiency. It builds on the current success of Energise, where the fitness suite has recently been extended to meet increasing customer demand and now accommodates 95 users whereas previously it was 56.
“For Energise to be placed in the shortlist of top five of the UK’s best performing leisure centres is a tribute to the hard work and professionalism of all the staff and I wish them every success with the award as well as helping meet council priorities of improving residents’ health and wellbeing.”
