Shoppers were surprised by the arrival of the pair, especially when the mother started blowing foam at them through her trunk.
Because these were panto elephants: Tikka Masala and Rogan Josh are part of the biggest pantomime ever to be staged at the Grand Opera House – Aladdin – and were in town to promote the show.
They joined stand-up star Paul Sinha ahead of his gig at the Great Yorkshire Fringe. Paul will play Abanazar in the show. Also in the picture is Stuart Wade, now a York panto favourite, who takes the role of Wishee Washee.
Suzanne Shaw will play the beautiful Princess Jasmine, while Paul Daniels’ widow Debbie McGee, and Frazer Hines, as The Emperor, add to a cast of famous faces.
