Driver cut free from wreckage after crash near York

A driver has been taken to hospital after crashing into a hedge near York.

The accident happened at 10.26am today (Monday) on the B1224 York-Wetherby Road near Rufforth Hall.

No other vehicle was involved

Firefighters from Acomb and York went to the scene and cut the male driver free from the wreckage of his car. He was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary suffering from chest pains.

At 12.13pm North Yorkshire Police has tweeted:

  • The B1224 is currently closed near Rufforth Hall due to a single vehicle collision.

    Diversions are in place and the road is expected to be closed for some time. Please avoid the area and check back for updates.
