Don’t be caught out – Police in York issue another email scam warning

There have been multiple reports of an email scam claiming to be from HM Courts & Tribunal Service and it’s been sent to email accounts all over the city as well as across North Yorkshire.

The scammers are trying to con you and collect a fake penalty charge.

What should you do?

If you get an email like this, it is someone trying to steal money from you.

Police in York say DO NOT click any of the links in the email and delete it immediately.

Officers added that they will never email you without making contact through another means, e.g. post, first.

If you have clicked any of the links, or made a payment, call 101 to report it.
