Sci fi and fantasy fans are in for a multiple treat this summer as some famous names head for York’s comic-con.
Now known as York Unleashed, the event will see the seventh incarnation of Doctor Who heading to the convention at the racecourse on August 28.
And he’ll be bringing his most famous companion.
Sylvester McCoy played the last Doctor in the classic series, between 1987 and 1989. He will be at York Unleashed with Sophie Aldred, who played his popular teenage companion Ace.
And the organisers of the comic con are very proud to announced that Boba Fett himself, Jeremy Bulloch, will be another VIP guest.
Jeremy will be at the event for the whole day meeting fans, signing autographs and chatting about his widespread movie experience.
Jeremy played Boba Fett in all of the original Star Wars Trilogy movies and is still regarded as one of the coolest Star Wars characters of all.
Also at the event are the very talented Nathalie Cox (Juno Eclipse, The Force Unleashed), the fantastic Femi Taylor (Star Wars: Return of the Jedi) and the highly entertaining Phill Martin (Prometheus, Pan).
Cosplay training
The Superheroes Cosplay team will be running two Sith Lightsabre Training schools, say the organisers, “or possibly something more themed with York”.
They added:
We also have well over 100 trading tables featuring a wide variety of products, including signed books by acclaimed authors, comics, toys, collectables, art, games, hand made geeky crafts, lego and so much more.
Cosplay is not essential, but for those who want to join in, the costume competition will be back with some fantastic prizes!
