City of York Council will be webcasting next week’s Cabinet meeting on 16 July and is encouraging residents to get online to see the meeting for themselves.

The council is working with a local supplier, Pilot Theatre, to enable public meetings to be viewed live as well as offering an online archive where recordings of meetings which have already taken place, can also be viewed.

The webcasts are making an important contribution in promoting local democracy and increasing community engagement by enabling more residents to having greater involvement in the democratic process.

Feedback and statistics from the webcasts will be monitored and reviewed, with residents able to feedback their views on the webcasts via social media and by emailing [email protected].

The live webcasts can be viewed by visiting the council’s webcast page and the recording, including agenda points, will be available to view on-demand the day following the meeting via the same link.

Residents are encouraged to follow City of York Council on Twitter @CityofYork and gain news updates and a reminder of when meetings will be webcasted. They can join in the debate on Twitter using the hashtag #CYCwebcast and find us on Facebook.

The council is interested to know resident’s thoughts on the webcasting of council meetings. Feedback, comments or suggestions relating to webcasting of council meetings can be sent via email.
