Poems are welcomed on any subject. To be eligible, poems must be in English, run to no longer than 40 lines, and fit on a single A4 page.

They must be original and not previously published . Entrants must be over 18 and live or study in the British Isles.

To ensure your poem is eligible, please read the full rules.

Winning and commended poets will be invited to read their entries at a gala evening prize-giving at Friargate Theatre, York, on March 26, 2017.

The prize-giving event will also feature a reading by Antony Dunn.

Antony is the sole judge of the competition and will read every entry.

Entry details

Entry is £5 for a single poem, or £10 for up to three poems. There is no limit to the number of entries. Each form allows up to ten entries.

Poems can be submitted in the following formats: Word (suffix doc or docx), text (txt), Apple Pages (pages), or PDF (pdf).

On the form below, fill out your details. Once you have selected the number of poems and attached them, press submit and you will be taken to our PayPal gateway for payment.

To pay by PayPal you do not need a PayPal account. All major credit and debit cards are accepted.

Once your payment has been processed you will receive a notification, as well as a receipt from PayPal.

If you are uploading multiple entries please be patient as they may take a minute or two to be submitted.
