A man tried to lure a 13-year-old boy into his van in York.

The boy had just got off the school bus in Whitby Avenue off Stockton Lane at about 4pm on Tuesday (February 28).

The man, a passenger in a blue van, leaned out of the window and said ‘Come here little boy’.

Thankfully the boy did the right thing and didn’t approach the van.

‘Always remain vigilant’

The passenger is believed to be a man in his mid-20s, and wearing a grey tracksuit and possibly a cap.

Police have no description of the driver.

A North Yorkshire police spokeswoman said:
