A York shop is now closed until the middle of the month due to coronavirus restrictions.
Appleton’s, the traditional pork butchers and pie makers, has closed its branch on Lendal in the city centre.
It said in a statement: “Due to government guidelines relating to track and trace, some of our staff have been instructed to self isolate. As a result of this we have made changes to our opening hours.”
The company has five shops in Yorkshire. Branches in Ripon, Wetherby and Boroughbridge will close tomorrow for one day only (Wednesday, 7 October).
The branch in Knaresborough will remain open.
However the York shop is staying shut for more than a week. It is due to reopen on Thursday, 15 October.
The announcement was received with gratitude by customers. One posted on social media: “Stay safe. Thank you for protecting your staff and customers.”
