A team of cyclists, many from York, have raised £3,500 in memory of a popular architect.
The cyclists were all taking part in the Neil Scott Memorial Ride.
It was supported by the Web Adventure Park, the play centre on Wigginton Road.
Emma Ayris-Rogers of the park said: “Nearly a year ago our fabulous architect Neil Scott sadly passed away.
“On Sunday we held a charity event in his memory and a group of his friends and others touched by Motor Neurone Disease cycled 240 miles from his home to the Stadium of Light, site of his beloved Sunderland FC.
“This ride is in the spirit of adventure, friendship and challenge that was at the very heart of Neil’s personality.
“Like him, his children, Hayley and Jonathan, love a challenge and were riding too.”
Jason Liversidge, who was on DIY SOS and also suffers from the disease, came along to meet with Neil’s family and to show his support.
