Soon you could get a new set of tyres fitted to your car while you browse the soft furnishings at John Lewis.
Plans are in with City of York Council for a P1 Speedy Fit franchise, which will “offer our full range of services including MOT, tryers, alloy wheel refurbishment and servicing”.
The franchise would be located in parking bays in the far side of the car park opposite the entrance to John Lewis at the Vangarde Shopping Park.
It would also offer car washing and valeting, according to planning documents..
Jobs planned
P1 Speedy Fit is run by Howard Forland from an office in London.
Franchises are built in the car parks of shopping centres allowing customers to get work done to their car while they shop.
The Vangarde business would be 27m long (88ft) and 7m wide (22ft).
According to planning documents, it would create three full-time and three part-time jobs, and operate from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
Addressing noise concerns, the documents say the maintenance area would be enclosed with “acoustic baffles walls and have a shutter fitted on the front of this area.
“The work area for both the tyre changing and equipment area will have rubber matting fitted that is noise absorbent.”
