An award-winning holiday park near York is opening its doors to the public on Saturday June 1.
Hollicarrs Holiday Park, in Riccall Road, Escrick, has more than a 100 timber lodges and holiday homes set in 25 acres of woodland. The park offers a range of activities including fishing, horse riding, bowling and tennis, while cycle trails and pretty walks run through the historic Escrick Park Estate.
The open day will enable visitors to look at what Hollicars has to offer, meet the owners of the lodges and holiday homes, sample the facilities on offer and enjoy refreshments laid on especially for the day.
The holiday park is the brainchild of Escrick Park Estate owner, Charlie Forbes-Adam. “In everything we do, the environment is of paramount importance and the care and attention put into the planning stage of Hollicarrs was carried through to produce what is seen today,” he said.
“Great care has been taken so as not to disturb the eco-balance existing here.”
This work was recognised when the park was awarded the David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation and the 5 Stars VisitBritain Award for an exceptional lodge park, within the first year of opening in 2005. The park was opened by the popular television actor and presenter James Nesbitt, a friend of Mr Forbes-Adam.
“All lodges and holiday homes are well spaced and carefully sited to give each owner full advantage of the peaceful surroundings which really look very special during every season,” Mr Forbes-Adam added.
“Although the park is not residential, with our 12-month holiday licence owners are able to enjoy using their holiday home throughout the year, taking full advantage of all the wonderful facilities available, or simply to get away from the stresses and strains of everyday living.”
The open day runs from 10am till 4pm. A range of holiday homes and timber lodges are available for viewing.
