It’s got a new name – and now it has £3 million new look.
The Monkbar Hotel officially relaunches on Wednesday (March 7) as Doubletree by Hilton York, after a stylishly modern makeover.
Situated on St Maurice’s Road, next to the city walls, the 143-bedroom hotel has been revamped to offer a more luxurious experience, and more space throughout the café, bar and grill.
A new business suite now has hosting for up to 250 guests and the courtyard garden offers space for delegates outside, when spring finally arrives. There’s a new fitness centre too.
And the menu is as classy as the interior. The emphasis is on quality ingredients from local producers.
With jams and preserves from York, gin from Bedale and the in-house Yorkshire Bar and Grill serving up steak from Kirkby Malzeard, the hotel offers some of the finest dishes with the minimum of food miles.
