From a pub to a convent, five distinctive bed and breakfast venues are to battle it out to be named York’s best.
Visit York today (March 31) announced the finalists for the title York’s best bed and breakfast in its 2014 tourism awards.
They are
- The Bar Convent, Blossom Street
- Bishops, Holgate Road
- Carlton House, The Mount
- Deighton Lodge, Deighton
- The Golden Fleece, Pavement
But who will win? The great British public will decide.
Finalists will be uploaded online and a Twitter and Facebook campaign has been launched to encourage votes for the five finalists, using the hashtag #faveyorkbnb.
Votes can also be cast at the Visit York website.
Damian Cruden, artistic director at York Theatre Royal, helped announce the winners today.
“We’ve all got fond memories of a place we stayed where the owners made us feel very special,” he said.
“It’s so important for all of us in business in the city that our visitors have a happy and comfortable stay and I’d like to personally congratulate our five finalists and wish them all the best of luck.”
Head of Visit York Kate McMullen said: “York has a superb range of quality bed and breakfasts and this award will no doubt be fiercely contested.”
The awards ceremony announcing all 14 tourism awards winners will be held on Thursday, May 8 at the National Railway Museum.
