It’s emerged that David Gest loved York so much, he wanted to be buried here.
In one of his last interviews, the celebrity made clear where he wanted to be laid to rest – and it wasn’t in his home city of Los Angeles.
He told the Grimsby Evening Telegraph:
The interview was published less than a month ago. David was found dead in the five-star Four Seasons Hotel in London’s Canary Wharf on Tuesday (April 12).
‘Lovely and approachable’
Producer and reality TV star David lived in York for some time, mingling happily with the residents.
Mark Wayt met him in Currys on Clifton Moor. On the YorkMix Facebook page Mark wrote “He was a rather lovely chap and really approachable. What a shame.”
Another reader, Andy Neale, said: “Sad news. I remember having a beer with Dave in the Revolution. He was a nice bloke.”
The journalist who interviewed David for the Grimsby Evening Telegraph, Emma Mathias, wrote yesterday:
And as we had chortled about at the time, the local clergy couldn’t manage to bring King Richard III home to the city; we hope that David Gest is a comforting second best, should he make it.
