Boots the Chemist is to close its Coppergate Centre store later this summer.
The national retailer said it would close in August.
A Boots spokesperson said:
At Boots UK, we continually review our store locations to make sure they are where our customers need us most.
It is never a decision we take lightly when looking to close a store.
With this in mind, we can confirm that we are closing the Boots store on Coppergate Walk in York towards the end of August however our store on Coney Street will remain open and is around an eight-minute walk away.
All of our affected colleagues have been informed and we are working with them to discuss job options elsewhere within Boots stores.
There is no word yet on the future of the King’s Square branch.
The Coppergate Centre has been one of York’s retailing success stories, and had no vacant shops when the lockdown happened.
The Fenwick department store is reopening on Monday (15 June) as is Boots’ neighbour Primark.
