The body of a woman has been discovered on a railway line near York.

North Yorkshire Police were contacted on Sunday morning (May 1) at 9.25am by Network Rail, to reports of a woman’s body on a section of track at Moor Lane, Copmanthorpe.

​The section of train line is closed whilst North Yorkshire Police and British Transport Police undertake enquiries to determine the identity of the woman.

​Inspector Mark Henderson from North Yorkshire Police said:

Police are currently making enquires to identify the woman and inform her next of kin.

Moor Lane remains closed at this time and there is a temporary stop on the main railway line which is expected to cause some disruption.
