A teenage girl was left with injuries to her face after being attacked on a city centre street.
The assault happened near the bus stop on Piccadilly between 3pm and 4pm on Tuesday, 30 June.
The victim, 17, was assaulted by another girl of about the same age.
It left her with a bleeding nose and swelling to her face and jaw.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
“In particular, we are appealing for information around the members of the public who helped stop the assault occurring and assisted the victim.”
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
