The ‘dangerous’ man who has been on the run for four days has been arrested.
Mark Anthony Ainsley absconded from police custody during a visit to York Hospital at around 3.35am on Thursday (May 18).
Since then York police have mounted a major campaign to track him down. There was a heightened police presence in the Clifton area of the city, and at one stage armed officers were seen outside a house in the Huntington Road area.
On Monday afternoon North Yorkshire Police revealed he had been arrested in Harrogate.
They issued this statement:
Mark Anthony Ainsley, who was wanted on recall to prison, has been arrested at an address in Harrogate at 3.28pm today (Monday 22 May) by North Yorkshire Police and is currently being detained in police custody.
North Yorkshire Police would like to thank the public and media for their assistance with this investigation.
