An elderly man was airlifted to hospital after being trampled by a cow.

The man was injured off Sheriff Hutton Road in Strensall at about 2pm.

Ambulance crews treated the man, said to be aged about 90, at the scene.

They were assisted by firefighters from Huntington, York, who came across the emergency while out checking hydrants.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called and took the man to hospital.
