The Fringe is back
Expect to hear laughter echoing the length of Parliament Street for the next couple of weeks as the second Great Yorkshire Fringe returns. Running from Friday July 15 to Monday August 1, the fringe brings stand-ups, family shows and more to York, including a new venue – the Shed at the Gillygate pub. More here.
Rowntree Park birthday
Many happy returns to this riverside gem, 95 years young. To celebrate the birthday a fun-filled afternoon is lined up on Sunday, complete with fun fair, miniature railway and mobile scooter obstacle course. Full details here.

Brew York beer festival
To celebrate the York City of Ale, Walmgate brewery and bar Brew York are holding a beer festival. There’s a specially created ale, plus guests from the likes of Bad Seed and Brass Castle, plus street food and live music. Until Saturday at 11pm, more here.
York Maze opens
One hundred years ago writer and chocolate fanatic Roald Dahl was born. And to celebrate the anniversary, Dahl fan Tom Pearcy has created a 15-acre tribute. Willy Wonka and Fantastic Mr Fox are two of the characters to feature in this year’s York Maze which opens on Saturday. More here.
York Motor Club Motor Show
