Living North Christmas Fair

Spotlight on… York Explore
There’s a lot of history inside the York Explore library, especially now the city archives are kept here. But the site itself has loads of history too. As part of the Explore Your Archive week, learn all about it with Colin Sheppard of the Association of Voluntary Guides, and take a tour of the building and Mint Yard complex. Jools Holland at the Barbican
It takes a big band to fill the Barbican with sound, and Jools has just that. And alongside his 20-piece rhythm and blues orchestra are special guests Pauline Black and Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson from The Selecter. Sat at 7.30pm – more here.
Viva La Dance
Those talented youngsters from Evelyn Witcombe School of Dance return for her 47th annual showcase. Expect dance of every style, from ballet and tap to acrobatic and Irish, including a special armed forces themed number to mark Remembrance Sunday.
Stand up with Phil Wang
Some class stand-ups at The Duchess at this week’s Hyena Lounge comedy club. Headliner Phil Wang is fresh from The John Bishop Show, The Rob Brydon Show and BBC Three At The Fringe, while Alun Cochrane brings his own brand of Yorkshire observation back to York. Saturday from 8pm – more here.
