Viking finale and family fun
It’s the final weekend of the Jorvik Viking Festival, across the city centre. Look out for lots of family-friendly activities including the march to Coppergate, the best beard competition, and the spectacular finale Bloodaxe’s Last Stand in the shadow of Clifford’s Tower.

Then at the Barbican on Sunday, something brand new to the city – York’s Vintage Weigh & Pay, where you pay £15 per kilo of clothes…
Yorkey Dads Lego Club
A weekly club launches on Saturday, perfect for creative types. The Yorkey Dads Lego Club is aimed at children aged between six and 11, where everyone can build their own worlds. Yorkey Dads began as a fathers group on Facebook and now runs a number of city events. The Lego club is at Acomb Explore library for an hour from 9.30am.

York Handball Festival
It’s fast, furious and filled with goals. Handball is a brilliant sport, and you can find out why at the free York Handball Festival. The three hour event begins on Sunday at noon. As well as watching a tournament featuring various teams from the North-East, you can have a go yourself – all for free. At York St John University.
