More than a thousand thrill-seekers went to the opening night of Hallowscream on Friday (October 16).

And judging by these photographs, at least 999 of them were terrified out of their wits…

Hallowscream is the annual fright fest which takes place on the nights running up to Halloween at York Maze.

Aimed at grown ups (or at least those over 14) the site boasts five haunted house attractions and roving creepy characters.

Tom Pearcy from York Maze said:

We had a great opening night, and our talented team of actors gave the visitors some great frights and lots of laughs.

The event is aimed at adults and we try to strike the right balance of fear of fun. This is our 6th year of running HallowScream nights, and each year the event grows.

Tickets are selling strongly, Tom said. “The interest in Halloween continues to grow and each year we are seeing more and more people visiting our HallowScream nights and more families visiting our daytime Halloween event during October half term.”
