York police are investigating after they were called to a domestic disturbance at a property in Burdyke Avenue at around 9pm on Saturday 9 March 2013.
A woman in her twenties sustained serious injuries as a result of an assault and was taken to York District Hospital for treatment.
A 27-year-old man was arrested at the property on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
Police are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area, and to support their enquiries, have asked anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or heard a disturbance at the property to contact them without delay.
Detective Inspector Shaun Page of York’s Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit, said: “We believe that neighbours or passing members of the public may have seen or heard a disturbance at the property prior to the assault, or as the woman was being assaulted. To support our enquiries and ensure justice is secured for the victim, it is vital that anyone with any information which could assist the investigation comes forward.”
Anyone with any information can either contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for York Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit. Or, if you prefer not to give your name, you can pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
