Don’t miss your chance to see comedian Ed Gamble at the Grand Opera House this weekend – but hurry, as it’s nearly sold out. There will be all your classic Gamble ranting, raving and spluttering but he’s doing fine mentally. Promise. Co-host of the award-winning mega-hit podcast Off Menu with James Acaster, judge on Great British Menu, Taskmaster champion and host of Taskmaster The Podcast, and now host of The Traitors: Uncloaked, Ed also has his own special Blood Sugar available worldwide on Amazon Prime.

Bouncers
Join Les, Ralph, Judd and Lucky Eric as they relive a night in a Yorkshire disco in the 80s. Like a hideously funny Saturday Night Fever, the original Bouncers is back in town. Everyone will be there: the DJ, the girls, boys and the fish and chip van. Candlelit 80s
Who doesn’t like the 80s! Listen to all the great hits of the 80s played by the Ebor String quartet. With Alistair Griffin joining them later in the show for a selection of songs. Music Night: A Musical Variety
Now in its 30th year, join Don Pears, Singphonia and guests as they perform a range of solos, duets and group numbers featuring a variety of tunes for an excellent evening of music. You’ll hear music from shows such as Miss Saigon, Whistle down the Wind, My Fair Lady, Little Shop and Horrors, Evita, Love Never Dies and Fiddler on the Roof. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Music Night without songs from the likes of Abba, Ed Sheeran, Barry Manilow and Boyzone, as well as many famous and classical pieces from the past. This is a night of musical variety with something for everyone’s taste.

Buccaneer Day
This Saturday marks Buccaneer Day at Yorkshire Air Museum, marking 30 years since this ground breaking, Yorkshire-built, jet retired from RAF service. The three Buccs will be on display outside the main hangar, with cockpit access to one. There will also be some visiting cockpit sections to have a look at.

Sunday in the Park with George
Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s masterpiece follows painter Georges Seurat (Adam Price) in the months leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Consumed by his need to ‘finish the hat,’ Seurat alienates the French bourgeoisie, spurns his fellow artists, and neglects his lover Dot (Natalie Walker), not realising that his actions will reverberate over the next 100 years.

Local Writers Book Fair
Twenty-five York authors will be holding a Book Fair this Saturday, where visitors will be able to meet some of York’s talented writers and peruse and buy their work. Novels, detective fiction, travel, poetry and history, often with a local setting, will all be represented.
