Selby Residents’ Festival
Fall in love with the Heart of Yorkshire and discover what is on your doorstep as the Selby Residents’ Festival returns! The ‘Get to Know Your Own Heart’ festival offers people in the Selby region the chance to celebrate, discover and explore the many gems right here on their doorsteps. From magnificent historic houses and beautiful gardens to quirky tea rooms, dog friendly pubs and fabulous walks, the area has it all. The YorkMix bus will also parked in the Market Place in Selby on Saturday 20 April as part of the festival and farmer’s market.

St George’s Day Scout Parade
Around 1,500 Explorers, Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Squirrels, Rangers, Guides, Brownies and Rainbows from York and the surrounding area, together with their volunteer leaders, will come together to parade the streets in recognition of St George being the Patron Saint of Scouting. This year’s procession, headed by the Yorkshire Volunteer Band, will start at from Clifford’s Tower and head through the city arriving at the Minster.

Candlelit Take That

The York International Shakespeare Festival is back with 10 days of exciting Shakespeare productions and productions and events derived from Shakespeare, and celebrating Shakespeare as an international writer. International highlights include Debra Ann Byrd’s Becoming Othello from the US, and other artists from Japan, Poland, Bulgaria, and Turkey.

Yorkshire Craft Festival
The Yorkshire Craft Festival will give space to regional designer makers and craft groups to celebrate the varied range of modern and traditional craft skills, our amazing region has to offer. The Festival will play host to a variety of demonstrations and craft workshops designed to educate, inspire and give opportunity to budding crafters. Alongside the demonstration pop-up marquees we will be hosting our Made in Yorkshire craft show, showcasing some of the best arts and craft from around the region.

Sleeping Beauty
The celebration of the new royal princess Aurora is interrupted by the arrival of the wicked fairy, Carabosse. Angered at not being invited, she gives the princess a spindle, vowing that one day she will prick her finger upon it and die. But the Lilac Fairy promises that Aurora will not die, but fall into a deep sleep, from which she will only be awoken by true love’s kiss. This classic tale is retold in a dance show full of style and sparkle.
