Increase in visitors
Chief executive of York Museums Trust Reyahn King said they were thrilled with Castle Museum’s ranking.
“It would not have been possible without the thousands of positive reviews we have received from visitors who have been to the museum and enjoyed their visit.”
The exhibition has been well received, with visitor numbers increasing by 6% at the Castle Museum so far this financial year, compared to the same period in 2015.
This was in part thanks to Shaping the Body, an exhibition on how fashion, food and life have shaped the way we look over the last 400 years, which opened in March.
Earlier in the year TripAdvisor reviewers put York seventh in their top ten UK destinations. And St Denys Hotel made it to number nine in Britain’s top hotels for service.
